Title: Special Project Coordinator
Location: Cass Lake, MN
Status: Regular Part Time (20 hours/week)
PRIMARY FUNCTION
This position serves as the Coordinator of Special Projects for the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe. The Special Projects Coordinator will focus on marketing for the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe, including social media management (Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.), Ojibwe language revitalization, and incorporating language and culture into the MCT. Additionally, the role involves seeking grants, submitting applications to granting agencies, and reporting on grant activities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate special projects as assigned.
- Research prospective funding agencies for financial support of special projects and existing programs. Develop, write, and submit grant applications.
- Provide progress reports as outlined in approved grants. Present and advise Leadership on the status of special projects, funding opportunities, and other related assignments.
- Provide technical assistance to program staff on new or existing projects, including action plans, budgets, evaluation, and outcomes of projects.
- Collaborate with the MCT Executive Director and staff to strategize immediate and future needs of the Tribe.
- Coordinate marketing and advertising strategies, including maintaining and updating the Tribe’s social media platforms.
- Develop effective communication methods to ensure the needs, vision, and desired outcomes of special projects are met.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- Experience in marketing, including social media management (Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.).
- Knowledge and experience in Ojibwe language revitalization and incorporating language and culture into organizational activities.
- Experience in grant management, including seeking grants, submitting applications, and reporting on grant activities.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate projects.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively present and advise Leadership on project status and funding opportunities.
- Ability to provide technical assistance to program staff on new or existing projects, including action plans, budgets, evaluation, and outcomes.
- Collaborative skills to work with the MCT Executive Director and staff to strategize immediate and future needs of the Tribe.
- Proficiency in developing marketing and advertising strategies, including maintaining and updating social media platforms.
- High level of competence in the use of computer and office management software.
- Valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and the use of a privately owned vehicle for business purposes.
PERSONAL CONTACTS
Contacts are made with all levels of professional and support staff within the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe and its six member reservations. Contact is also made with Tribal officials and representatives of private industry lenders and various State and Federal agencies.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The responsibilities of this position are performed in an office setting at the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe headquarters in Cass Lake, Minnesota.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The work is primarily sedentary requiring dexterity for the keyboard, and good vision, hearing and speaking ability. The position also requires movement around the office.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Travel is not required on a regular basis.
